Project-Based Voucher (PBV) Waiting Lists Closure Notice

Effective February 9, 2026, the County of Riverside Housing Authority will be closing all Project-Based Voucher (PBV) waiting lists.

Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on February 8, 2026. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be accepted.

Once the waiting lists close, applicants will no longer be able to access or update their PBV registration information online. Please note that applications will not be withdrawn or adversely affected due to the inability to make updates during this period.

The PBV waiting lists are being closed to allow the agency to process applications already received and to ensure the timely and efficient administration of the program. Placement on a waiting list does not guarantee housing assistance.

At this time, no reopening date has been scheduled. Notice of any future reopening will be posted on the Housing Authority’s website.

Updates as of 10/6/2025:

Important Notice for Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Applicants

As of September 1, 2025, the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting list is closed.

At this time, you will not be able to access or update your HCV registration information online.  Please don’t worry — your application will not be withdrawn for being unable to make updates during this period.

We will post a notification once the system reopens and updates can be made again.

Updates as of 7/7/25:  

In addition to the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting list closure that took effect on July 1, 2023, the Housing Authority of the County of Riverside will close the HCV waiting list for the following specialized populations effective September 1, 2025:

Veterans and Widows of Veterans

Extremely Elderly (age 70 and older)

This closure is due to the number of applicants currently on the list exceeding the number of available vouchers expected in the foreseeable future. No new applications will be accepted after the closing date.

The waiting list will remain closed until further notice. A public announcement will be made in advance of any reopening.

On July 1, 2023, the Housing Authority of the County of Riverside closed the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list to ALL except those meeting the Housing Authority of the County of Riverside’s First Level Preferences including eligible veterans, widows of veterans and those 70 years of age and older.

This only applies to NEW registrations 7/1/23 or later. If you are already registered on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list, this does not apply to you and you may update your existing registration.

The Project-Based Voucher and Moderate Rehabilitation waiting list  closed effective February 9, 2026.
